As a SleepMate - The Original Sound Conditioner

For home use, aid sleep by masking noises such as street noise, television & stereo, barking dogs, snoring spouse, appliance noise, tinnitus (ringing, buzzing in the ears), noisy neighbors, air traffic, or conversation. Recommended for restless sleepers, shift workers, infants, children, students, apartment dwellers, or office workers for confidentiality.

As a Sound Screen - To Safeguard your Confidential Discussions

For office use, it is useful in your office or study to help mask distracting noise or to provide conversational confidentiality. Recommended for professional/office use to help relax patients of therapists, counsellors, dentists, etc, and mask conversations to ensure confidentiality.

Dohm DS can also be used to add sound where it might otherwise be too quiet.

The placement of the sound conditioner becomes most effective when sounds "fill the room." Ideally, it should be positioned away from the user at certain distance, which allows for maximum effectiveness in controlling unabated, disturbing noise.

Why does this say "formerly" SleepMate and Sound Screen? What happened? I loved my SleepMate!

Don't worry. We didn't change the product. We know people are attached to Marpac Original Sound Conditioner. But from all of the questions we've received over the last 50 years, having two names for the same product - one for bedrooms, one for use elsewhere - was pretty confusing, so we gave it one name: Dohm. Like "ohmmm." Simplifies things, but with the same awesome zzzz's.
